Been using the Hammerite spray paint for painting the engine ancillaries with good results (so far) has anyone used it on panels? (I'm thinking on using it to spray the panels under the bonnet)

I haven't sprayed Hammerite on panels, but I used Smoothrite to paint the heater box on my Triumph, mixed 50:50 with cellulose thinners. I was very pleased with the results .

Eyup Joe, Its easy to get carried away when things are getting painted. I spray cars for a living, and even now if i were to get a tin of red aerosol paint - everything in a 2 mile radius would be red! My advice is make sure you would be happy with the finish over a large area, and also go and buy a tin of spray etch or similar with an interchangeable spray cap. Generally speaking they are fitted with a cap with a wider 'fan' which will cover a large panel easier/better. Hammerite tins seem to have a cap with a very direct spray pattern, making large areas difficult. Either way, hope it goes well. Prepare for the numb/cold finger after 5 mins of painting.

just remember that once their painted with hammerite you cannot over paint them with anything else in the future as it will react . used it on my last cars running gear , amazing stuff but expensive !
