Hi All, 40 ish years between MK 3 zodiacs. In-between I have had a number of modified vehicles and stockers. Had fun running a dragster for 8 years or so but time to slow down. Recently bought a zodiac from Mathewsons auction house. Needs a tinker here and there so thought why not ask the experts? One quick question, what size wheels are possible on the MK3 Zodiac? Width and backspace? Looking forward to the tinkering times. Thanks Craig

I have 7x14 and 6x14 on mine (standard axle and no mods to the wheel arches) with no clearance problems even with six people in the car. The car I had in the seventies had 7x14s but I had to turn in the lip of the wheel arch so presumably a different offset. With stock steering you really need to beef up the steering box and mounting if putting wider wheels on the front....

Hi Joe Thanks for the reply I appreciate your info. I was hoping to put 15 on the back and 14 on the front (Pretty narrow ones). Off course it depends on my tyre choice also but 14`s on the rear may be the safe option. To be honest that`s a way down the line as the brakes/clutch and fuel system need a thorough going through, and a new nearside front door latch (mine freely rotates stopping the door from shutting)lol. Thanks again, Craig

Sorry I orginally somehow posted in the wrong thread called "Introduction"!
If you go alloy I personally think slot mags look best. There used to be a beflamed Zodiac about (think it was owned by a nurse) and the spoked alloys just weren't right to me. As I recall 6" x 14" front and 7" x 14" rear don't cause clearance issues. But the rear springs have to be in tip top condition! Personally I think wide steels with chrome hubcaps look best.
If down the line you want to update the engine I would suggest a 3.2 Essex V6 or small block Ford but NOT a Rover V8 as it's not a Ford!

Hi Michael Thinking of steel wheels myself, black with chrome spider caps. Which steels would fit, thinking mustang? If not chrome reverse rims might get a look in. All some time off as I need to get through the oily stuff first. Drain the tank and fuel lines(petrol is dark brown) brakes/lines and clutch. I want it pretty much on the road as a safe reliable cruiser. Regards, Craig
