Has anyone fitted an electric fan to zephyr6, it looks like not a lot of room or I maybe need a 4 bladed fan as engine gets really warm in traffic.

Does it actually get warm or could it be the temperature sensor? Only reason I ask is because I had a Victor 101 that used to "overheat" but when we actually took the temperature it was running at less than 90 degrees. Butvback in Z cars Worldham, I have only ever seen four blade fans on MK3s

Hi joe, al the time wether in winter or summer when going along it stays about half way on the needle but as soon as the weather warms up & get in traffic the needle goes up & yes I have checked temp on idling so gauge is more or less correct so need to sort it as Swindon has nothing but traffic.

I have never fitted an electric fan to a Mk3 but it is quite a common modification.
However my opinion, for what it's worth, is that an electric fan only cures the symptoms, not the underlying problem that causes the overheating.

I understand what you’re saying Eddie, the man I bought the car off of said a new rad had been fitted & I have the receipt for this, really I want a quick fix instead of perhaps stripping engine to clear out water ways, I don’t mind doing that in the winter when the car comes Off the road for a few months. When I looked at the space in front of the rad & behind it there seems to be no room for a fan to fit.

Correct, mine used to get very hot in traffic or hot days, since rebuilding the engine and flushing it all though she now runs mid gauge whatever the weather or traffic conditions.

I fitted an electric fan to my zodiac not long after I bought it. On the outside facing in behind the front grill, blows in the outside air and does help when it traffic. It maybe worth removing the rear tap, core plugs etc and giving an extra flush out as mine is starting to get warm now in traffic again. The rear tap was blocked last year so I cleaned that out and it cured it for a year but as it's beginning to happen again I will try removing the core plugs aswell. So it maybe worth trying this first as just trying to flush it doesn't get to the rear of the block and I believe that's the most common issue
