I imagine most of you are now heartily sick of this. Over the last few weeks I have been getting an ever-increasing amount of emails about this to the level it feels like spam! Since I had a period of unemployment in 2013/14 I have been trying to stop all the rubbish job emails but it seemed like each time you stopped one agency your details got passed onto someone else. These people who you never registered with seem to be defaulting to taking you off their database whilst others seem to default into keeping it unless you opt out. I have even heard from agencies that have not contacted me in three to four years – why do they keep you on their database? Whilst you have to liv with Amazon these days I am now slightly reluctant to buy on line. About three years ago I brought a set of headlamps bulbs and have received regular emails with offers since – how many headlamps can a man have? Basically, I am not replying to any and waiting to see what happens. If I now get any emails from job agencies I shall ask to be taken off their database! I feel a “Grumpy” coming on!

Yeah, one of my biggest gripes is any sort of marketing email, junk mail (through the post) phone calls, door knockers or any other kind of spam marketing I refuse point blank to respond to any of them. I run a small business and hav had to come up with a GDPR policy and it goes like this: I do not share any of my clients details with any third parties I do not conic any of my clients unless it is necessary I delete all unnecessary do I do not keep unnecessary records
How hard is that?

the new privacy rules in Europe dont even allow you to share any data from contacts to others without their specific consent. This goes per 25th of May I dont know if Britain is following this same rules

The whole thing has got quite confusing at work. Whilst you are meant to ask if you can retain contact details there are legal requirements for retaining emails and details of any transactions for HMRC purposes. Working in the health/well-being sector you also have to ask clients/patients about retaining data or anonymising it. The problem with the latter approach is by the time you make it totally anonymous it can become fairly meaningless.
At least the amount of junk emails are dropped off significantly n the past few days. An example of how stupid things can become is that my girlfriend’s pets are registered with one of the large chain of vets. She needed some medication and as we would be passing another branch rang them up to get further supplies. The response was that because of GDPR they cannot share data resulting in a gallon of petrol having to be wasted!
The whole thing feels like it originates from the same type of people who came up with Prince II!
