I wad speaking to a mechanic recently and he felt that the easiest way to get a power hike on a Mk III would be to use throttle bodies and a minimal ECU. Has anybody considered or tried this?

I´ll guess you are talking of electrinic fuel injection. I was thinking about it a few years ago but couldn´t find any suitable system. Mainly for the reason that the 6 cylinder Engine has only three inlet ports and all the systems that i´ve looked at are designed for an even number of ports.

A racing mechanic friend of mine also suggested this when we were discussing my SU set up. Perhaps the problem with the three inlets could be overcome by using two injectors in each port? My own opinion is that just about any alternative set up is an improvement on the standard Zenith. One freind used a 28/36 Webber on an adapter plate, that worked pretty well and can easily be hidden under the stock air cleaner. There is also a twin Zenth manifold (takes two Zephyr 6 carbs I think) availiab from NewZeland, and one of these is currently on EBay.

They used to say that if you had a decent inlet and exhaust (no hockey sticks) setup on a Mk II/III it upped power by a quarter to a third - well worth having...
