Has any one fitted a 2lt pinto and 4 speed auto box into a z4 mk3 , i was told that if you fit a front bowel sump you dont have to change the cross member , I know i will need to make engine mounts , plus other mods , just wanted to see if any one had done this before, thanks airbrush

Sure that a few years ago there was a Mk II Consul running around that had been modded this way. The Mk I Granada/Consul had this option as standard but the steering/front suspension was very different. The easiest way might be to use a Capri engine crossmember and suspension/sterring set up - I think.

Would the conversion be worth the trouble,,2 litre ohc wasn't a very torquey engine and I think would work quite hard to propel a zephyr around,,they are more suited to light cars,,I know they were fitted to transits etc but they weren't nice to drive,,

I had a Granada with a Pinto and found it had plenty of power, I even managed to get knicked for speeding at over 90 mph, easily comparable to a Z6. Albeit the car had a 5 speed gearbox not an auto.

You will need to have a prop shaft made up and the rear cross member modified, there are two positions for the cross member you can use which ever fits (when I did my V6 transplant I used the forward Z4 position) I can't remember if the radiator hoses are on the same sides but that another thing to think about. And of course you have to avoid any mods to the transmission tunnel apart from cutting the hole.
