In my area they tended to use the Zephyr 4 for greater economy although the Austin Cambridge was more popular from what I recall. One driver toid me he ran a Mk IV Zephyr 6 for well over 100k and apart from its first service it only ever had tyres and brake pads in that time. Apparently it did need oil each time he filled up as the mileage mounted. These days I find the Skoda Superb and the Ford Galaxy the most comfortable but hate those Peugeot bread vans. Just hope the iconic black cabs c\arry on running in London!

Don't know where a outs in the country you guys are but I was brought up in Hemel Hempstead and back in the seventies there was still a fleet of Zephyr 4 taxis running in the nearby town of Chesham. They all looked quite smart but were mostly blue or green cars resprayed black. Don't know when they stopped using them but I still remember them being around in about 78/9.

In the country outside Hatfield. I recall the fleet in Hemel as used to go ten pin bowling there navigating the infamous "magic roundabout" on the way there.
