Hi Dan , glad the bonnet behaved on the way back .....Big thanks from myself and Trace to all the people who took time to have a chat and made it such a great day. Was nice to put some faces to names at last Look forward to further meetings like this one. Dan: I 'think' the annual club day is Tatton park but don't quote me on it. There may be details in the club mag to conform this. After the brief showing of cars last year it was great to see mk3's dominate the event in the numbers that turned up and the standard of the cars was superb

Great day out (we're still up here) good to put so many faces to names. I thought the whole event was brilliantly well put together, a real Ford "gathering of the clans" (or gathering of the tin cans) . Think we will be returning next year.

A great day, will post pics on the website. I am afraid my car let the side down on the way home. Not sure what is wrong yet but I suspect it is going to be expensive . Car was fine on the way up, although when I stopped at the motorway services about half way there I noticed the oil light flicker when idling. On the way home though I noticed that I was trailing smoke and I could smell oil burning. I knew I had overfilled the oil yesterday so thought that was the cause but after a while in a traffic jam the car cut out and would not idle at all. After a few hairy moments I managed to get to the next services and let everything cool down. Started the engine again but it was running rough and still would not idle. Cleaned plugs, reset points and even changed dizzy cap but no improvement. (All this was done while being watched by a coach party from Edinburgh, who provided helpful suggestions and encouragement - not!) Adjusted idle screw on carb so it would idle - but way too fast. And there was oil smoke coming from the oil breather and crank case breather pipe and a ticking sound from the top end. Anyway I eventually got home but the car is really not well. Loads of smoke coming from oil cap breather and crank case breather pipe (but not from exhaust). No trace of oil in water or vice versa, but it is running rough. Will do compression test when I get time but am not a happy bunny right now.
