I remember see some in both Custom Car and Hot Car. There was a very nice dark red one with a Jag engine in. I think that it was a 2.4 which barely seemed worth the effort performance wise. There was also a Zodiac with flames (painted) down ther side and allys that used to turn up to some events in the mid-90s. Couple with Rover V8s as well.

Nice pics I remember quite a few of them. I never really got the Jackups an dcustom paint thing and I was an early convert to the "South London look" The outragous Humdinger was once seen never forgotten.

No indicators or side lights on the front and can't see any indicators on the rear There probably built in to the rear lights in a clever manner , and quite possibly hidden away on the front. Very cool tho....I dont think its the same one as the pic i posted is of a recent ongoing project www.normanbycustomfabrications.co.nz/mk3-zephyr-2-door/

i built the red zephyr hi rider with the glass flip front in the first group of pics. it has a ford 351 cleveland in it. a mate bought it off me in 2000 and still owns it. was built to relive my youth as i built one looking the same with a 302 in when i was 19.

The blue Zodiac FDA 115C is very much alive. I often see it at shows.
I remember seeing Humdinger in a parade of custom cars at Wimbledon Stadium banger racing in the olden days when I was a lad. Also "The Sweeney" - a V8 Zodiac with an MG grille and a mural of the TV programme on the bonnet.

Neil: Cool work on the hi rise Zody , didn't it used to be green at one point ? Good call on the Sweeney Ed, It would be rude not to have some pics of it. Seem to recall it had 2 designs of murals on its bonnet ( as in pics ) tho not sure if it was 2 different bonnets or a redesign at a later stage? Gotta have on of the furtastic humdinger interior to

yes it was still green when i took it to the last nationals at essex in 2000 i think. i'd taken a deposit from my mate but told him i was still using it that weekend. it was a 'restored' zephyr 4 when i bought it. did the conversion and added the 6 grill as i prefer it. he had it painted red like the one i built (with a 302) when i was 19. he couldn't afford that one when i sold it though so had to wait til i did another (13 years later!).
