Hi, I'm attempting to trace a chap who purchased an old Morris from me in the late 80's. He was at the time, I believe, a leading light in the Mk3 Zephyr/Zodiac scene. His name, as far as I remember, was Chris Begley or Bagley and he had one of his cars (a Mk3 Zodiac I think) featured around that time in Practical Classics magazine. I know that this is an awfully long shot, but I would be extremely grateful for any help, I'd love to be able to track my old Morris down and maybe even buy it back. Thank you in advance.

I'm pretty sure he lived in the South East of England but I can't remember where.

His name definitely rings a bell. I may be totally wrong here but seem to recall he may have been at a meet at Knebworth.
As a matter of interest which model of Morris did you have? In the seventies I ran a Series III Oxford (pre Farina). Great mechanically but some horrific bodges to cover the rot!

Had a Wolseley 15/60 with wooden side members under the floor, beautifully disguised and painted to look like BMC originals. Worst bodged car was my last Zodiac, would have been a candidate for 'Fake or Fortune, never so glad to see the rear lights of a car disappear down the lane ( on a trailer), sold unseen to a dealer, via a well known auction site, he resold it again a few weeks later, it then appeared again regularly (higher priced) then disappeared ,hope it found someone who could deal with it, I just had had enough ,I really took against that car, the bodger had got every ware. I prefer (and do) to take on really rough cars, rather than restored examples CD

Thanks for the replies all, it was a 1938 12/4 Morris and was a car I partly restored with my late father, hence ideally wanting to buy it back. I've already contacted the Morris Register and the last record they have is of my ownership, the dvla online check shows the last logbook change was when I sold it.

Hi all. I had a look at my pile of car mags today, mainly Practical Classics and found in the July 1986 issue a good article on buying a Mk111, that's 35 years ago and I can't put names on the faces on the cover picture ( I bet someone can ) but it says Chris Bagley was the membership secretary of ZZOC and he lived in Mitcham Surrey. Then I found December 1986 a great article on Rob and Andy Young's cars, next was September 1990 a restoration on a car we all know used to belong to Jack Ovenden . Spring 2007 had a buyers guide with lots of information, no doubt there's plenty more but I stopped buying car mags some time back as they got a bit out of my time zone !! ( and the stack was getting heavy ) John

I thought he lived in Mitcham. If he was Membership Secretary his address will be in an old club newsletter. I will see if I can find it in my pile of old newsletters in the loft.
