Hey, Live in east lancs and am off to sunny Plymouth tomorrow ( 300 mile each way... ) to look at a Z6. ( CNV 265 B if anyone knows it? ). I have been an owner previously owning a Z4, 214 GUV back in the early 90s and also owned/bought a scrap ex plod car at the time with a view to swapping the engine but it never happened. I believe my 4 is also a dead thing now as the plate was sold on to reside on some modern 4x4 last time I checked. My general plan is to actually get back to using the Z as my daily driver, I'm becoming disillusioned with the complexity of the modern motors and just how bland they are for what you pay. I have for 20+ years had a 120 mile a day commute but between a trapped nerve back in Nov last year and Covid it has finally pushed the organisation that we don't need to sit in the office to do the job. So it might be once a fortnight at worst. I also have a C70 Convertible so wont be pushed if I didn't want to put the miles on the Z. My current daily is a VW Phaeton, an immense machine and its going to be a big swap to go from air suspension, 300 bhp, awd heated cooled massage seats etc

Hi entwisi Oooo you'll get no toys with a Zephyr/Zodiac but you do get the cruising factor. Best of luck with the car if you buy it, should be an interesting drive back though

Could this be of interest? www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1275844I looked at a flat yesterday that should have been wheelchair friendly (I lost my lower left leg three months ago) as it was for over 55s. It was so tight I could not even get in the bedroom. Frustrating that people selling cars, houses and financial services are basically dishonest...

Gearbox making all sorts of spanner rattle noises when accelerating... that will be a wasted 600 mile journey then... Anyone got a good one for sale? I had the same experience with an MGB once, why can’t people just be honest? Anyway back to Z’s. I sold my 66 Zodiac a couple of months ago to a chap that had set up a wedding business (he worryingly still calls it a Zephyr). Within three or four weeks he called me and asked if I wanted to buy it back as the business had not taken off (I don’t know of any business that has been an instant success). I had previously said that I would buy the car back one day but, didn’t expect it to be in a few weeks. I bought the car for £6800 and spent 7-8k on (not that it looks like it). Mostly mechanical, it pulled like a train compared to the one I have now. I was sad to see it go but, always wanted an earlier model. From memory it needed work under the drivers side bonnet hinge, the usual, the inner wing turret tops had been repaired at some point and didn’t look pretty (this was to be my next job), A small patch of welding was needed on the front O/S chassis leg the bodywork had also been done at some point but, not very well and was starting to show signs of age, gearbox was a bit clunky when changing into third but, fine at low revs I subsequently noticed when it was on the transporter that there was a linkage bush missing as well. I was just thinking that if you were looking for a daily driver this car would be great, as I’ve said before I would drive it to Scotland and I live on the South coast. I sold the car for £7600 as it does still need work as they all do. If you are interested I can send you photos and contact details. Unless of course it’s definitely a Zephyr you want there was also a restored Zodiac up for £17000. Good luck in your search.

Did you actually drive the car? Because believe it or not I have just bought it (CNV265B). It sounds absolutely fine and pulls like a freight train, I'm just hoping it isn't all going to go pear shape for me and I'll end up needing a new gear box😬. It has a bit of tappet noise and needs a new advance and retard diaphragm so is a bit lumpy on tick over but apart from that she sounds fine.
