being a big kid at heart I have many models, especially mk3's. I agree the crossways model is disapointing. The vanguards model although still not perfect is far better especially at the price... Matchbox did a very nice Zephyr 6 cheap and easy to find. Spot on also did a nice zephyr 6 but a touch pricey now. But the Airfix Zodiac is really nice (I have a few) but pricey now. Maybe we should get together with the club and get some models commissioned,I for one would be very interested.

Seeing some models posted on the forum, thought I'd post a pic of the models I've collected over the past 20 years. ;D Some pre-date eBay and I did get others from the website! Top shelf has the Tin Tin Zephyr 6, Fairylite Z Car, Spot-on Z Car and maroon Zephyr 6 and a Telsalda Zodiac. Second shelf down has two Handsome models, the seven issued Hornby Skale/Oxford series and two Crossways Zephyr 6's. Middle shelf has all the Vanguard issues and Corgi Z Car. Next shelf has a mix of the Lone Star Impy Zodiac estate and, on the right, a mix of the Eko (Spanish) Zephyr 4. On the bottom are the Matchbox issues of the Zephyr 6 with a load more ones that were playworn and repainted! At the back on the right are the red and blue Husky Zephyr 6 estate and finally the ones at the front, right hand side are cheap Hong Kong copies of the Matchbox Zephyr 6. Only one I'm trying to locate is a Finnish 'Fintoys' model of the Zephyr - any help in finding one would be gratefully received! John.

Is that a convertable I see on the bottom shelf? presumably home made. I had a maroon "Spot on" mk3 as a kid but remember it as a Zodiac (it had a woman driving) am I mistaken or did they make both?

Hi Joe, yep it's a very, very nicely made convertible though not by me! Some guy made it, I think, in the USA though I can't be sure cos it's a few years ago since I got it - one of those eBay purchases! John.

Hi Joe, just spotted your question on the Spot-on models. They only made variations of the Zephyr 6, not Zodiacs. There is a woman driving in the maroon model with a poodle on the back seat!! John.

Now I remember the poodle! I think i was confused because I was given the model as a present by my uncle who was at the time marrying a girl whos father drove a maroon Zodiac. On the subject of the convertable can you post a better picture? A mkk3 convertable is one of my dream cars and I will have a real one built when I win the lottery

There was a white D reg Zodiac with a red interior that had been converted, I remember seeing it at a MK3 club day at Knebworth in the early nineties - dunno what ever happened to it as it looked a lovely motor! I've got pictures of it somewhere but I wonder if anyone else recalls it?

I've got pictures of it somewhere but I wonder if anyone else recalls it? It lived very near me here in Sutton, South London for a short time in the early 90s. Actually it wasn't that nice when you looked closely and the hood really didn't fit at all. Haven't seen it since and I have no idea what happened to it.

I've got a Airfix saloon in a box, apparently for the American market and also a Night Prowler also in its box. I decided to keep them boxed rather than build them.
I keep looking on eBay for a relatively cheap saloon to build, but they do fetch a lot of money. Most of my modeling time is spent on Airfix aircraft. I prefer their rugged simplicity to other brands.
