G'day zephyr diehards ,I'm in the early stages of fitting a windsor v8 and 4 speed to my mk 3 .im interested to find out if anyone has suggestions on modifying or relocating the handbrake to help the clearance issues.just to make it more difficult I have a front bench seat which I don't want to alter.my car is pre September 62 manual so it has a small tunnel and remote booster.any hints appreciated

Mark when I git my z4 it had the hand break under the seat ,this proved difficult to use,I have put the stock hand break back in place as the car has a essex v6 it needed a bit of adjustment to get it to work and is a tight fit but worth the aggro doing it

How about using the parkbrake system that is used in many american cars. I mean the pedal operated.

When I get round to modifying my handbrake I intend to use a teleflex cable attached to either an after market t handle or preferably modify the original handle to attach to a teleflex cable. Theoretically shouldn't need to relocate the handle then as you can route the teleflex cable to where you like to avoid the new block and gearbox.
At least that's my plan, haven't got that far yet.

i know this is old but if it's a 302w not a 351w (taller deck height) then if you split the handbrake pulley bracket in half, bend the 'offside' half slightly out to the offside and make a new 'sloping out' inner half bracket the pulley clears the back of the cylinder head. as i said it only works with the 302 as its shorter than a 351. regards, neil.
