Hi Andy The blue colors that were listed for the mk3 was M-Ambassador blue AR-Pompadour blue AV-Shark blue BT_Aqua blue BY-Light blue CB-Midnight blue CF-Alcuda blue Take a look at freespace.virgin.net/tommy.sandham/paintandtrim.htmThe trouble with Ford paint codes is that they have used the same code for different paint, depending on year model. Yes, there is a Velvet Blue! I have managed to dig out an old list of colours used on Mk IIIs. Only the names but not the codes are listed. The blues include those listed by Bjorn with the exception of Shark Blue. There are two additional blues in the list – Sapphire Blue and Velvet Blue! There is an example of Velvet Blue on a Ford Anglia 105e website:- www.anglia-models.co.uk/tech-paintcode.htm Does it look like the colour you are thinking of? Besides varying from year to year I have also found that in the same year the alleged same colour can vary between production plants. If you are trying for an exact match it is often better to get an expert to match an unweathered area around a door shut or inside the boot.

I have a 1966 Zephyr 6 which was advertised as Ambassador Blue. When I joined the Mk 3 club, I was told that this car was known to the club and was in fact Velvet Blue. The paint code on the under bonnet plate says "CN A" but I have never found this reference on any lists. I have had bits of bodywork repairs done on the car and the paint was "computor scanned" to eastablish an accurate match. The paint was supplied by a company in Telford called Bitec bitec.co.uk Tel 01952 838203 / 0844 980 8686 Their reference for the paint was Ford Europe YHS Dark Blue DB 904
