Hello ratfink welcome! Do you have a 4 or a 6. I saw a picture of a 6 special recently that I didn’t even know existed. Only found in NZ.

Hello and welcome to the forum!
The Zephyr Special mentioned was a lower specification model intended for the fleet market. No idea what was changed besides deletion of some of the brightwork. Years ago a friend had a fleet spec Vauxhall. It was grim; no passenger sun visor, limited sound proofing, etc.

I didn’t realise they even existed. I think the Zephyr 6 special also had the centre grill bar removed and made flush with the rest of the grill. Fascinating stuff. So Michael you say they were for the fleet market, would that be for companies with a lot of company vehicles and by stripping all of the chrome etc.. they would be cheaper for the company to purchase?

Yes, brightwork was removed but I do not know what else as sixties cars were not well equipped. I had a company car from about 85 - 91. Whilst I never had a fleet version some more junior staff did. Cost cutting included only one door mirror (actually dangerous in central London). There were a few base Chevettes - I think the Lada of the time was more upmarket!
