Crazy isn’t it and so frustrating. Was Andy’s the black estate? I think the engine was actually out of my zephyr 6 which was Fords test bed for the V6. It also had slightly different suspension I seem to remember. It might have been the gearbox he had or maybe it was the gearbox he wanted, I can’t remember but I bumped into him at Beaulieu auto jumble years ago.

Well it’s arrived! And I must say I’m over the moon, i’ve taken her for spin and one would believe that it has only the 56000 showing on the odometer. So smooth and apart from the noises tappet that in just about to sort it is silent when ticking over. Waiting on insurance to call me back. After speaking to a number of people it would appear quite common that details are incorrect, especially with fords for some reason.

Excellent!! What was the score with the grille in the end?
Interesting what Joe says about the MOT history disappearing
Suppose it makes sense that FJ will have the correct details as the previous owner had cover with them......but you never know!
Recently switched to Classicline for my XJ40 and my daily driver, have to say they've been pretty good so far both on price and length of time spent on hold, also free breakdown and options for layup cover etc.

Still haven’t tackled the grille yet. I’ve been doing the tappets. They are still a little noisy but nothing like it was. Have quite an oil leak dripping off bell housing and I think it’s gear oil, is this common? Smells like gear oil. Also although the guy said he had done oil and filters, inside the rocker box cover didn’t tell the same story, nothing major though. I managed to swap insurance from my Corvette in the end and as someone mentioned earlier they had to put it in manually. I’m so pleased and can’t wait to bring it to a meet/show. It needs work but I think 99% do! Everyone has been so kind and helpful it will be good to meet so I can buy you all a drink, even if it is lemonade!

I think they both featured in practical Classics or at least Andy’s did @nd a maroon one about 1986 wasn’t it?

Quite common I should think

I thought that’s probably what is would be. Is there a rubber replacement option? Would be great if they made one in two half’s like the Chevy 350.
